HOLIDAY SUEDE
There’s bound to be a lot of partying going on over the next few weeks and I can hardly imagine a better reason to invest in festive footwear. Richer looking than smooth leather and more durable than velvet, shoe designers have heaps of suede options in the shops right now. Styles that have a kick of metallic shine, like these lovelies from Bergdorf Goodman, will work best after eight.
If you decide to pick up a pair, make sure to take the proper steps to protect them. The Leather Spa, New York’s preeminent shoe restoration and repair shop, recommends using a water and stain protector before taking them out on the town. Their Wetbloc Combo (right: $12.99 at The Leather Spa) will prevent most dirt and water stains but the gruesome aftermath of a run-in with a clumsy wino should be dealt with by your local shoe repair shop.
