Here’s a little more nostalgia for you today. (Well, nostalgia for those of you who were there the first time around and history for everyone else.) Below is a nifty beauty/jewelry editorial from L’Officiel in 1969 that exhibits the hair styling virtuosity of the late Alexandre de Paris. More on him below.
Louis Alexandre Raimon, better known as Alexandre de Paris, was the go-to hair stylist in the 50’s and 60’s with a client list packed with royalty, Hollywood and otherwise. Pictured above with Lauren Bacall, Alexandre was responsible for many other leading actress’ more daring hair moments including Elizabeth Taylor’s in the 1963 film, Cleopatra. Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, and Liza Minelli also had Alexandre on the pre-speed dial equivalent of speed dial.
Though Alexandre passed away in 2008 at the age of 85, his legacy continues in the form of a haute hair accessory line. Check it out here.
