BEFORE THE FALL
No cartoon today due to some technical issues but I’ll take the opportunity to mention the pre-fall collections that have been popping up online over the past month or so.
To my mind, pre-fall is the season of broad appeal. A successful, basics-driven collection that has a longer full-price life in stores means good business for designers and retailers. So, with the focus off of the spectacle and onto the wearable, are you still as excited to see what everyone has to offer? Are you bored by the lack of ‘editorial’ looks or are you excited by pieces you can easily imagine in your current wardrobe? I’d love to know what it is that thrills or disappoints you through the fashion seasons. Do tell!
And, of course, for the purpose of providing visual content today, here are looks from the Derek Lam pre-fall presentation (for which I would do terrible, terrible things to acquire). Just about every piece has a life outside of the provided styling suggestion and would provide the basis for an exceptionally cool fall wardrobe – exactly what Mr. Lam was going for, I’m sure.
