PARIS WHEN IT SIZZLES
Alright, folks! We’re exactly one week away from the close of international fashion month. Models, press, and buyers have descended on Paris and there will be plenty to cover. News officially broke yesterday that Stefano Pilati will step down as creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, a post he has held for eight years, and I’m sure that’s not the only drama that will come out of Paris this week. His replacement has yet to be named so the speculation alone will keep the news wires busy, busy, busy.
The fashion heavyweights begin showing today, arguably with Dries Van Noten at 9am EST, but yesterday featured at least two members of the French new wave – Cédric Charlier and Anthony Vaccarello.
Cédric was relieved of his duties at Cacharel last year and showed his first namesake collection with a little (financial) help from his friends at Italian manufacturing company, Aeffe. Anthony Vaccarello, the Belgian winner of both the Festival d’Hyères and ANDAM prizes, made waves in September with a saucy dress that graced the most recent cover of US Harper’s Bazaar. Will they be able to hang onto their buzz when the fashion stardust settles? We’ll have to wait and see!
