WORTH A LOOK
The Museum of the City of New York has put together a nifty online fashion exhibition entitled, Worth & Mainbocher, which you can check out here. Charles Frederick Worth (1825-1895) is widely regarded as the first haute couturier while Mainbocher (Main Rousseau Bocher, 1891-1976) brought the craft into the twentieth century and to the United States. The 119 garments in the exhibition are featured with extensive technical information and the names of the fashionable, well-to-do New Yorkers who wore them. I just wish these pieces could share some of the salacious society gossip they were privy to in their time!
Thanks to Stephanie Danhakl for bringing this to my attention!

Thanks so much for posting this!!! We have worked for over two years on the project and are delighted to share the finished product with as manner fashion insiders as possible. I believe that the result will prove enlightening to those who have never had the privilege of peering into the bodice of a Worth, or intimately inspect the impeccable craftsmanship of a Mainbocher garment.
The whole project really was carried off beautifully. You and your team at the MCNY created an exceptionally engaging way to virtually explore fashion. Thank you!
